Who Are The Most Googled Artists of 2016?

beyonce2Search engine giants Google have released a list of the most searched for musicians and songs of the year. The lists feature some obvious choices as well as a few surprise entries.

Unsurprisingly Pop-Goddess Beyonce topped both the most searched for artist list and most searched for song with her hugely popular single ‘Formation’.

Beyonce released her incredible sixth studio album ‘Lemonade’ back in April and it is already well on its way to becoming the highest selling record of her illustrious career. Lemonade peaked at number one in 17 different countries worldwide and has sold over 1 million copies in the US.

Celine Dion follows Beyonce in second place. Dion released her French language record ‘Encore un soir’ back in August and has enjoyed huge success in a number of French speaking countries.

In a bizarre twist of fate Teyana Taylor (who famously appeared in Kanye West’s raunchy ‘Fade’ video) placed sixth in the most searched for artists list, two full places above Kanye himself.

The late Prince had the second most searched for song of 2016 with his 1984 hit ‘Purple Rain’, Hip Hop duo Rae Sremmurd scored third place with their track ‘Black Beatles’ and rapper Desiigner took the fourth spot with his song ‘Panda’.

The Top 10 also included Drake’s record breaking song ‘One Dance’ and Adele’s emotional pop ballad ‘Hello’.
