Ah yes, it was back in 1984 and there was one saying that that everyone had on their lips, ”Who you gonna call? —Ghostbusters.” The movie was a blockbuster, but the soundtrack was just as huge in itself.
With songs by The Thompson Twins, The BusBoys, Air Supply, and Laura Branigan the movie and soundtrack was packed with great songs, but the one song that everyone associates with the movie was Ray Parker, Jr.’s iconic title track “Ghostbusters” that gave the soundtrack album its massive success. The album sat at No. 1 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and collected an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song the following year.
It’s a hard act to follow, but with this summer’s remake Sony has put together a heavyweight soundtrack that it believes will capture the public’s imagination. Some of the standouts are: Fall Out Boy featuring Missy Elliott covering Ray Parker, Jr.’s theme; Elle King; Wolf Alice; G-Eazy featuring Jeremih; 5 Seconds of Summer; and Pentatonix.
Prior to the film’s release, and to give us a taste of what’s to come, Sony has released Elle King’s new single “Good Girls”.
The soundtrack for the movie will be released the day the film hits theaters, July 15th, but you can check out King’s new single “Good Girls” below:
