Game of Thrones show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have confirmed that British pop singer Ed Sheeran is set to make a special cameo appearance in the upcoming seventh season of the show. The popular television series have previously featured cameos from both Coldplay and Snow Patrol members.
Lets face it, Ed Sheeran is having a pretty monumental 2017 so far. His third studio album ‘÷’ has set the world alight since its release on March 3; peaking at number one fourteen different countries, and already achieving a 2X platinum certification in the UK.
Sheeran is now set to appear in the biggest show of the decade in what will no doubt be its most popular season yet. In a recent interview at SXSW, GoT creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss explained: “For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, And this year we finally did it.”
Maisie Williams (who plays Arya Stark in the show) has previously claimed to be one of Sheeran’s biggest fans ,and the two are reported have become good friends over the last few months.
In other Game of Thrones news, John Snow actor Kit Harrington has recently opened up about season seven in a new interview with the Huffington Post. Harrington said of the upcoming season: “They spent an increasing amount of money on less episodes, so it’s gonna be much bigger in scale, the CGI… we’re trying new things, experimenting with new camera techniques. I think we’re trying to break boundaries and push past boundaries in these final two seasons.”
Adding: “You have to live up to the hype that’s surrounded the show and the worst thing would be to end without really pushing and trying new things. Even if it’s a failure, at least [we’re] trying to go out with a bang.”
