Coldplay might not be the coolest band in the world, but when it comes to album sales and concert tickets, the numbers don’t lie.
It is easily one of the most popular bands in the world and once in a while Coldplay even shows its cool side.
Recently the band did just that, and it involved the movie Back to the Future and Michael J. Fox.
Last weekend, Coldplay was doing what it does best, wowing the fans at a concert at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey; then, in the middle of the gig, the band projected a clip of singer Chris Martin’s son, Moses, asking his dad to play a song from their favorite movie, Back to the Future.
Instead of playing one of the obvious choices like Huey Lewis and The News’ “Back in Time” or “The Power of Love”, he opted for the classic ballad “Earth Angel” from the movie. This on its own would have been pretty cool, but Martin wasn’t finished there.
The singer then brought out the surprise of the night, Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox. Fox came on stage, strapped on a guitar and jammed along with the band.
Just to top off the night, after the band and Fox finished their rendition of “Earth Angel” they then proceeded to rock out to the classic “Johnny B. Goode”.
Just like in the movie, the crowd at MetLife Stadium went wild as Fox played the solo.
