2017 Ivor Novello Nominations

nickcave7This years nominations for the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards are finally in. Some of the biggest artists in music have been named on the 2017 shortlist including Adele, Nick Cave, Coldplay and Skepta.

First awarded in 1955, The Ivor Novellos are one of Britain’s most sought after prizes. The awards are given to the world’s foremost songwriters and composers, and are presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA). The most significant aspect of the Ivor Novello Awards however, is that they are judged only by the British songwriting community, and are not influenced in any way by publishers, record companies or pop charts.

Last years winners included British songwriter Jamie Lawson, record producer Cass Lowe and Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams. This year is shaping up to be an incredibly close fought battle; however, many are predicting that pop singer Adele could leave with the night’s biggest prize.

BASCA chair Crispin Hunt said of this years ceremony: “BASCA’s nominations for the 62nd Ivor Novello Awards are as diverse and impressive as the contemporary UK music scene itself,” “As the only peer nominated music award ceremony in the country, we’re especially thrilled to be honouring such a cool selection of both emerging and established nominees; they are the true architects of the music we love, and reflect the creative global force that is British music writing. Our congratulations go out to everyone nominated today.”
